"If only I had her hair."
"If only my parents would let me go to that party, then I could hangout with them."
"If only I could get that dress, maybe he would actually notice me ."
How many times do you hear or think something like this a day? I know I do alot, and I guarantee everyone has many, many times in there life.
When you look around, it's obvious that not one person is completely content with what they have. We are all trying to be better than eachother. Even "popular" people find themselves trying to be better - no one is content when they measure themselves up to other people.
This is the case because us teens (and adults) often put God on the backburner, causing an empty void. As a result, we try to fill the emptyness with material things which will make our status in this world higher. It can be anything - that Victoria Secret sweatshirt your mom won't let you get, that expensive skateboard everyone has, or that car you can't afford.
The problem is, once we finally get what we've been trying so hard to obtain, it soons seems like nothing. Then we once again look for something else to fill that void, and it turns into a never ending cycle. The further we get into this cycle, the more caught up we get in the world - and the harder it is to admit we haven't been giving enough to God.
Alot of people never do repent, and just keep on this hardening, useless process.
Are you going to be one of these people? NO!
Don't let the things of this world tempt you, keep your eyes set on God!

That was very wise, and was very true in everybody life :)
Sometimes it gets difficult to discern something you just want for selfish gain, something you need, or something God truly lavishes upon you. All I know is what Jesus says in the sermon on the mount: "Seek ye firs tthe kingdom of God and all these things will be yours." If our heart and treasure are truly with Him, then I suppose all our perspective will fall into place...
So true, Abbie!
Wow-I don't think I was that mature at your age. I'm proud of you =)
And it's all true, a good reminder.
