One thing that is our duty as Christians is to simply show love. It not only brings joy to others, but also you, knowing you added a little bit of sunshine into a person's life. Not just your family and friends, but everyone. It can be anything - from holding the door open for the stranger behind you, or giving flowers to a loved one. No matter how small the act, it always shines a little bit of God's love onto that person's life.
Once, when I was in California, I was passing by an african-american man on the street playing jazz guitar and harmonica for spare change. And this wasn't you're normal mediocre side-of-the-street instrumentist. He was amazing! But even so, everyone passed by him without a glance. So I pulled out the money in my wallet, only a couple dollars, and put it in the man's empty guitar case. I hadn't excpected how much some spare change could change a man's expression. He stopped playing, and a huge smile broke over his face.
"Bless your heart, sister!" he exclaimed. It just felt so good, knowing I had helped, no matter how small of a difference I made.
"And they'll know we are Christians,
by our love, by our love."
